The Community Mobilization and Communication strategy of NASCOP is an integral part of its efforts to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS and STIs.
This strategy involves several key components:
NASCOP works to involve communities in the planning and implementation of HIV/AIDS and STI prevention and treatment programs. This includes working with community leaders, local organizations and other stakeholders to ensure that the interventions are culturally appropriate and widely accepted.
Through various media channels including; radio, television, social media and print materials, NASCOP conducts extensive awareness campaigns. These campaigns aim to educate the public about HIV/AIDS and STI prevention, treatment options and the importance of getting tested.
BCC strategies are designed to influence positive behavior change regarding sexual health. NASCOP develops and disseminates messages that promote safer sexual practices, regular testing and adherence to treatment among people living with HIV.
NASCOP provides training and resources to healthcare providers, community health workers and volunteers to enhance their ability to deliver effective HIV/AIDS and STI services. This includes training on communication skills to better engage with the community.
The program also focuses on providing support services for people living with HIV/AIDS, including counseling, support groups and linkage to care and treatment services. This helps to ensure that individuals receive comprehensive care and support.
NASCOP continuously monitors and evaluates the impact of its community mobilization and communication efforts to identify areas for improvement and to measure progress towards achieving its goals.
