Embracing Collaborations in HIV Strategic Information

The Division of National AIDS and STI Control Program in collaboration with CDC-Kenya hosted a team from the CDC-Ethiopia and its implementing partners: JEMBI Systems and ICAP. The team recently visited Kenya to benchmark on the role of a national data warehouse in availing high quality strategic information across all HIV program areas,

Among other benefits, the national de-identified EMR data warehouse supports availability of individual level data for the HIV program complementing the routine aggregate reporting. This allows for granular monitoring and evaluation of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care programs thus enabling stakeholders to assess their effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and optimize service delivery.

Through the existing electronic systems and the National Datawarehouse, healthcare providers and the overall HIV program can tailor treatment plans, track treatment adherence, and ensure continuity of treatment for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

This aligns with the broader goals of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), and enhancing the ability to provide patient-centric comprehensive services thus ensure global HIV epidermic control
