The National HIV program recently convened a significant meeting to bolster the fight against HIV and enhance service delivery in HIV care and treatment. The focus was on discussing the introduction of new molecules, aligning with the latest Kenya HIV Prevention and Treatment Guidelines, and Implementation Framework. This meeting saw the collaboration of the World Health Organization (WHO) and included participation of Ministry of Health (MOH) HIV technical members, community representatives and various implementing partners.
The outcome of this meeting was the development of a comprehensive policy document. This document outlines and justifies the necessity for new health products and establishes eligibility criteria for each. Additionally, it includes detailed processes for forecasting and quantification of these new products, as well as plans for phasing out the old commodities and phasing in new ones.
By leveraging technical expertise and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, the forum exemplified a unified approach to enhancing HIV care and treatment. This collective action aims to improve HIV management and ensure that the latest advancements in treatment are effectively integrated into the national healthcare system.
